(February 22 2004) A month of firsts....
While that's to be said of ANY month, just about,
when it comes to having an infant in your life,
Michael's 7th month seemed to be the most dramatic
of new changes and things he's done:
-- He's finally gotten the hang of sitting up on
his own for hours on end without falling
-- He's now able to go from a laying-down position
to sitting on his own.
-- He's creeping along all over the floor now.
Between that, and the rolling around he's been
doing, he can get to just about anywhere he's
wanting to go. Which, of course, made babyproofing
necessary. We spent this past weekend going nuts
adding padding to every corner we could find, and
blocking up every outlet. And vacuuming like
crazy. I so should have taken Jill up on her offer
for a Dyson vacuum. I think ours is not long for
this world.
-- On Valentine's Day, he had his first taste of
Krispy Kreme donuts. Much like his parents, he was
no match to the hot, glazed goodness that the
neon "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign promises.
-- Also on Valentine's Day, he saw his first snow.
Texas had a rare snowfall in the early morning
hours of 2/14. Keller actually had an accumulation
of 5 inches that morning. Kids everywhere
took advantage of it and turned most of the town
into a snowman village. And what did the Baby
Munkey do? Stood supported by his parents and
looked confused as hell.
-- Speaking of standing, he has finally figured out
that when he's being held up by his arms over the
ground, he should in fact put his feet down on the
ground and try to bear at least a BIT of weight on
his legs.
-- He ate his first bit of fully solid food. He was
given some bites of super-stewed carrots and green
beans. And unlike his mom, he loved every bit of
them.
-- He finally said "mama". Of course, he was
looking at everything BUT me when he said it. But
I'll take it nonetheless.
-- He went to his first party. Well, ok, that
statement is a bit false. He's been to get
togethers with our neighbors. And he was at
Nathan's birthday party in September. However,
this was the first one he actually could interact
in. He was quite the little flirt, socializing
with everyone there.
-- He's also officially learned how to
play "catch". We bought him a set of soft blocks
to play with. The other day, Nathan was sitting on
the floor with him, tossing one of the blocks to
him. Mikey decided he wanted to play along, and
started catching it every other time. He was quite
happy.
-- Goliath baby also officially has outgrown 6-
9 month clothes. If sonething is sized for 6 - 12
months, they still fit. Otherwise, they're
destined for the garage in bins
New pictures are up at Snapfish. As usual, if you
need access (or need a new invite because you've
lost your information), just let me know. And
don't forget to leave a comment!
